The History of the London Rifle Brigade 1859-1919 on Familyrelatives.com

The Rifle Brigade (Prince Consort's Own) was an infantry regiment of the British Army, formed in 1800 to provide sharpshooters, scouts for its many skirmishers and battles in the Baltic expedition, Peninsular Wars, Crimean War, Indian Mutiny through to the Mahdist Wars.

The History of the London Rifle Brigade provides the Old History from 1859 to 1914, a Section on the Cadets and a Chronological History of the First, Second and Third Battalions from the start of the First World War through to the end.

List of Commanding Officers and NCOs and a nominal Roll of Officers is also included. The Rolls generally provide a useful biography of those serving and includes the name, education, date joined, rank and brief military service and achievements during and after the war.

Honours, mentions and Awards and Numbers of Commissions of Ranks as well as other interesting accounts including details of a Gas attack at Loos and statistics of the war are also mentioned.
