I am unable to view an image?

NEW - Familyrelatives.com a NEW IMAGE VIEWER has been designed to view images on the New released databases. The viewer does not require downloading and appears automatically

The new image viewer is designed to render very high quality greyscale images without the need to always download a plugin. All new databases will use the new image viewer. The same great functionality will be available and will be expanded - including an easy to use contrast and brightness slider bar. We have also made it possible for you to share images with friends and family for free for up to 14 days.

Should an image not appear you are required to download the DJVu viewer until all the databases use the new image viewer.

I am unable to view an image?

To view images you should check the following steps;
Download the DJVu viewer & check your privacy settings
Register or Login
Purchase Units or a Subscription for pay to view content

In some instances you may find that you have to login to view an image as you could be using pre login search links - You are logged in when you see a Welcome! and your name on the top right of the page

To view the FREE images, Register or Login and Download the DJVu viewer & check your privacy settings

I am unable to view an image?

In order to view images you should download the plug-in DJVU viewer.
The links for downloading the DJVU viewer and Test Image can be found on the website at:

In order to download the DJVU viewer please select the version you wish to download i.e. Windows Version. For the Windows version we advise that you download the "Auto Installation"  version. Mozilla Firefox users should download the Manual version and not the "Auto Installation" version.

Then attempt to view the test image where it states,
'In order to test whether you will be able to view the images please click here to open a test image.'

Please note: You will need to purchase units or a subscription to view images that are not free.

I have downloaded the viewer but I am unable to view any images?
We suspect that the viewer has not downloaded correctly. Please make sure that you can view the TEST IMAGE and follow the instructions below on how to do this.

I have downloaded the viewer and viewed the test image but I am still unable to view any images?
Familyrelatives.com is a secure site and requires browser cookies to login, purchase units, search and view images, please make sure your browser cookies are enabled. See below on how to change your privacy settings;

In Internet Explorer
Go to Tools menu
Select Internet Options
Select the Privacy tab
Select Sites (for Windows 98 select Edit)
Enter Address of website http://www.familyrelatives.com
Click Allow and OK to close window and Apply and OK to close Internet Options window

You are now ready to view all the familyrelatives.com pages and images

You may also access your PC settings through your Control Panel. For Microsoft Internet Explorer Help go to the Help menu, select Contents & Index and type a keyword into the query box.

When I try to view an image I get an error message?
If you attempt to view an image and get an error message you have not downloaded the DJVu viewer. Download the DJVu viewer and check your browser privacy settings (please see the Contact Us technical pages). The viewer can be found on the Information page.
If you have downloaded the viewer please "Refresh" your internet browser to re-load the image.

When I view an image I get an unexpected End Of File (DJVu EOF) message?
Firstly press the "REFRESH" button on your internet browser to re-load the image. An unexpected end of file also occurs if there is no image or the user session has timed out. Log out and log back onto the website. Please report any images that do not appear to us, some images are not available on beta databases and may not appear.

I am told to subscribe when I click on an image yet I have subscribed?
Make sure you have logged into the website. More info>>
Download the DJVu viewer and check your browser privacy settings (please see the Contact Us technical pages). The viewer can be found on the Information page.

DjVu Browser Plug-in viewer Does Not Work in Safari on Mac OS X 10.6
If you use a Mac OS X 10.6 and are unable to view the images using the DJVu plug-in please follow the instructions on how to solve this problem by selecting the following link; http://www.caminova.jp/en/support/snow_leopard_err.aspx

The DJVu viewer installs successfully on the following browsers;
PC - Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox
Apple Mac - Safari

The viewer will NOT install on Apple Mac - Mozilla Firefox

Mozilla Firefox browser users unable to view an image
When trying to view an image and the following message appears "Click here to download plugin" and "No suitable plugins were found" Mozilla Firefox users should download the viewer manually and not use the "Auto Installation" version. Follow How to download the image viewer instructions

Uninstalling the DJVU Plug-in viewer
If the viewer failed to download correctly you can uninstall the viewer using the following steps;

Close your internet browser
Go to your Program Files folder on your Local Disk and locate the "Lizardtech" folder.
Select the "Lizardtech" folder and right click on it and select Delete
A message will appear displaying "Are you sure you want to remove the folder ‘Lizardtech' and move all its content to the Recycle Bin?' Click ‘Yes'

Check for a successful DJVu download by viewing the test image

Firewalls - please check your firewall settings to allow the Active X component to download

Note: If you are running Windows XP Service Pack 2 (SP2) your firewall is turned on automatically.

If you are using Windows XP the firewall may be active and may not allow you to access parts of our website therefore this needs to be set up correctly prior to download please visit the microsoft website for further information.

We recommend you download the DJVu Auto Install version as it is faster and easier to load - applies to IE browsers only.
